Does it get much better than a sleeping baby?! Some days I am just so ready for her to go to sleep or take a nap. But as soon as she’s sleeping I find myself missing her. Funny how motherhood does that to ya! One of the most asked question amongst moms, especially new moms, is about how your baby is sleeping. Everyone wants all the tips and tricks because lets face it, sleep is pure gold during those first few months! Here are my top 3 things that helped us get our newborn to sleep!
When I was pregnant I was guilty of just wanting to get everything cheap, the first baby is so expensive. I bought the cheaper crib mattress and it got the job done. A while back we switched out our cheap mattress for the Newton Baby Wovenaire Crib Mattress and after months of using it I can honestly tell you all that it is worth the money! This mattress is a little more than I would initially like to spend but it has so many benefits. It is 100% breathable, washable, and recyclable…. talk about a triple threat! The design of this mattress allows for maximum airflow – helping to regulate body temperate and help them stay asleep longer. It is firm but also cushy, so amazing compared to the cheaper mattresses.
We absolutely love our Mamaroo. I would use this for Everlys naps and it would rock her right to sleep. I do know some people who said their baby hated it. So really this kind of depends on what your baby likes but for us it was amazing. I would also recommend looking into a rock-n-play if you need an alternative to the mamaroo.
When Everly was a newborn I tried to wrap her up nice and tight in her swaddle blankets. She ALWAYS wiggled them off no matter how good I swaddled her. So we got a Halo SleepSac off of amazon and it was the best thing to help us get Everly to sleep. This particular one is nice because it is a zipper and velcro so it was really fast and easy to use. We also liked the swaddle wraps (also found on amazon). These gave her the comfort she needed to fall asleep. I would put her in these for every nap and bedtime for the first four months and it was a game changer!
